Goa International School

A British couple who were successfully running a pre-school in Goa has been working on the project of an International school adopting the IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum. Having formed a small consortium of likeminded individuals (investors, stakeholders), we were approached to be part of the development process.  The site was selected in Farmagudi, Ponda on a beautiful plateau with nearly 270 degrees of valley and hill views. On the very first site visit in the monsoons, it felt like being on a hill station – grass covered land and numerous ephemeral pools dotted on the plateau and a breath-taking view to add. With a near perfect site in process of finalisation, we set out to conceptualise the school. Being a residential school designed to international standards, complete with Olympic size track and field and indoor sports arena, our team did a thorough research of case studies in India and out of India. The unique curriculum required a non-standard approach to classroom design, very unlike the classrooms of the existing schools. A complete conceptual design and a detailed project report were prepared to take the project into execution. However legal issues with the selected land ownership and title led to the project being on hold indefinitely for want of a suitable land and location.
