Edge of a hill, 180 degree panoramic view of the Zuari River and St. Jacinto Island over tree canopies is what characterised this gem of a plot situated in close proximity to the port town of Vasco da Gama. The location on the hill edge gives the site a bird-like vantage point exactly above the canopies of trees located downhill. With the rest of development ‘behind’ the villa was to be a space which breathed in the view and disconnect its occupants from the rest. This translated into an ‘impervious’ road side façade with a central entrance leading to a foyer which directly frames the exhilarating view with an infinity pool in the foreground. The rest of the living spaces are placed around this foyer and pool deck. There was one feature of the site in the form of a Kokum tree which made a lasting impact on the design. The impact was such that we wanted the tree to be an integral part of the design. This beautiful vibrant Kokum tree (Garcinia indica) has been retained to form the focal point of the central pool and deck area. Such has been its impact on the project that it has lent its name to the home – Casa de Cocum
